Sequoia Lodge Backpackers is a highly rated BBH hostel located on State Highway One just 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Picton.
Picton is a lovely seaside town situated at the heart of the stunning Marlborough Sounds and it is here where most of the tourism activity (boating, kayaking, nature tours) for the area is located, along with being the main starting and finishing point for the increasing popular Queen Charlotte walkway.
Picton is the South Island port and base for both the Interisland passenger and vehicle ferries, this ensures the town enjoys a very regular and steady flow of visitors all year round, many of who require accommodation either prior to or after their ferry trip.
The hostel's location on the main road in and out of Picton ensures high visible to passing traffic and makes it very easy and convenient to find and get to.
Marketing wise, Sequoia Lodge is well represented in many of the major i-SITE's in the lower North Island and Upper South Island.

The buildings are structurally very sound. Major renovations were done 2-3 years ago that included a new kitchen, new TV room, new laundry, addition of some rooms and a new spa pool. The current owners have placed a high priority on maintenance with regular painting and plant replacement taking place.
Many options exist for running this hostel. Currently the owners live in Nelson and run it very successfully remotely with full time staff, both of whom live off site. There is also a fully self-contained apartment on site that could be used as owner's accommodation.
